Children often look like their parents. It could be facial features, the way they move their hands as they speak, or their laugh. And a child will often mimic his parents’ mannerisms. Something about an apple not falling far from a tree. But ever since Eve was handed the fruit one particular tree, Satan has been lying to us . . . and many now mimic his behavior. Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us chart a course for our behavior from the Lord’s Ten Commandments. View and subscribe to Pastor Greg’s weekly notes. • Sunday Message: Lost in Translation
by Greg Laurie on November 29, 2020 at 8:00 am

In this Sunday morning message, titled “Lost in Translation,” Pastor Greg Laurie looks at the most important question we can answer—a question that Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” From Mark 8, we’ll come to understand who Jesus is, why He came to Earth, and how we ought to live out these truths.  It’s the latest message in our series, The Gospel for Busy People. Notes Jesus’ disciples did not understand why He came and what His purpose was. Before there would be a crown, there would be a cross. Read: Mark 8:27–30 Everyone will say, “Jesus is Lord!” (Philippians 2:10–11) Caesarea Philippi was named after the Greek god Pan. In a place of paganism and false belief, Jesus asks them to make a stand. “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” (Matthew 16:13) “You are the Messiah!” (Mark 8:30) Jesus was not a mere man. The birth of Jesus Christ is the most momentous event that has ever occurred.  Read: Mark 8:31–33 “Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.” (Mark 8:32) Satan was trying to divert Jesus from the cross.  Read: Mark 8:34–38 To deny means, “to say no to.” Following Jesus is long obedience in the same direction. Selfish people are unhappy and selfless people are happy. Other Scriptures Referenced Matthew 16:17–18 Revelation 13:8 Matthew 16:25 2 Timothy 3:1–2 Galatians 2:20 Mark 8:35 --- This Giving Tuesday, would you consider supporting the work of evangelism through Harvest Ministries? • Classic Crusade Message: God in Pursuit
by Greg Laurie on November 28, 2020 at 8:00 am

In this episode, we revisit a message from Pastor Greg Laurie titled, "God in Pursuit." Preaching from the story of the prophet Jonah, Pastor Greg describes how God pursues us in order to have a relationship with us.  Sometimes we run from God, not understanding that He is looking out for our own good. Are you not convinced of God's lovingkindness and offer of forgiveness of sins to you? Pastor Greg says, "Jesus Christ came to pay a debt He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay. And if you'll believe in Him and turn from your sin, you can be forgiven." Learn more about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by going to KnowGod.org. This message was originally delivered at the SoCal Harvest in Anaheim, California on Sunday night, August 25, 2013.  Since 1990, more than 9.8 million people have participated in Harvest Crusades events in person or online around the United States.
