Is Coronavirus a Sign of the End Times?
by Greg Laurie on May 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm
Pastor Greg Laurie shares a message titled, "Is Coronavirus a Sign of the End Times?" in which he considers whether this pandemic is a wake-up call for all of us. Notes “A stunning 43% of poll respondents said they believe the Coronavirus and resulting economic meltdown is a ‘wakeup call’ for us to turn back to faith in God.” In the span of 40 years, COVID-19 is the sixth infectious plague unleashed on the planet. You can freak out . . . or you can look up—in Scripture! 1. What is the rapture? The rapture is when Christ descends from Heaven and we are caught up to meet Him. Though the word rapture is not in the Bible, the word harpazo is; it’s used 13 times in the New Testament. 2. Why is there a rapture? The word revelation means, “unveiling.” It’s not God’s desire to conceal, but to reveal. “A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do.” —C. S. Lewis 3. Talking about the Lord’s return makes us want to be closer to God. 4. When will the Lord return in the rapture? Read Matthew 24:36. Scriptures Matthew 16:1–4 Luke 21:8–11 Luke 21:26 2 Thessalonians 2:7–8 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18 1 Thessalonians 4:13 1 John 3:3 Matthew 24:36 Resources Watch Pastor Greg's exclusive interview with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at harvest.org/live. God’s Answer to Fear, Worry and Anxiety – Part 2
by Greg Laurie on May 23, 2020 at 8:00 am
The Bible says, “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression” (Proverbs 12:25 NKJV). Jesus also taught, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:27 NLT). If you don’t want to live in fear, worry, and anxiety, put your concerns in the hands of God. Philippians 4:6 says, “But in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving . . . .” Replace thoughts of anxiety, worry, and panic with godly thoughts. Train your mind to think biblically. Put God’s Kingdom first and turn your panic into prayer. Application Did you know that worry can actually be a sin? The believer should not worry because nothing touches the Christian that has not first passed through the loving hands of God. Psalm 27:5 says, “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.” We grow in our faith by reading the Bible and believing what it says.
